The end of the first week of interships

  • What is it? What kind of business is it and what kind of work do the professionals do there?
I worked with the company called IAAC, Indo-America-Arts-Council. It is a non-profit organisation that comes up with special events called the dance, film and art festivals. The main works that the proffessionals do there are filling, typing and mostly office works.
  • Where is it?
My intership site is in Manhattan on West 29th street.
  • Tell a little about your mentor
My mentor's name is Somi. He takes care of the filming part of the company. Right now he doesn't give us any specific jobs to do so the manager of the organisation tells us what to do. My meantor is planning a film festival that's happening all the way in November. So right now, he's getting emails from people about some film submittions. He's not always in so when he's not there, I just do office work with my partner, Syira.
  • What happened on the first day?

On the first day, the office was really messy. So the manager, Nakita, told us to clean everything and make sure everything is on the shelf and in order. For three hours, we cleaned and cleaned. At the end, there was a VERY BIG difference in the office.

  • What kinds of things have you done so far?
So far, I've done a lot of office work. I called different organisations to tell them a change of address. I've made binders for current events and I also made a mailing list where my partner and I typed different addresses from different people. We mostly used excel for everything.

TYPICAL QUESTIONS
  • When do you leave school?
I leave school at 11:45 AM.
  • How long does it take you to get to your internship?
It takes me about an hour to get to my intership.I get there are 12:45 and the rest of the 15 minutes, I go buy Mc. Donalds.
  • When do you arrive at home?
I leave the site at 4 PM and other times, if I loose track of time, at 4:30. I arrive home, the latest, at 5:30 PM.
  • What is your schedule? (What days do you work and for how long each day?)
For now, I work Monday through Friday for 3 hours and sometimes more.
  • Who are the two people that can sign your time card? (Your mentor and the additional person)
My mentor can sign my time card but he's usually not there because he says that he doesn't really a intern right now but if he's not here, the manager signs my card.
  • At this point, do you have any other questions, comments, concerns, queries, or inquiries?
NO, MR. ANDREW. I DON'T HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, OR CONCERNS.
