Old and New May 12

Old: I added new film festival submission forms into the computer. I also added the forms into the MIACC film festival binder.

Old: I typed whatever Nikita gave me. For example she gave me some film critics that people send. I also added more colleges and High schools to the media list.

New: On Tuesday, when I went to the site, I added new DVDs and then Nikita gave me film critics to type. At 4.30, we all got ready to go to Icon Gallery for the book launch. We got there early. We put the chairs up and food and drinks and we got ready for guests to arrive. At 5 we were finished. So Aroon told us to just sit and hang out. We all sat down and told jokes and laughed with Nikita (This is when we see the fun part of our mentors). By 6.25, 6.30, people started to arrive and we had to start serving and getting people’s names for the mailing list that I have to updated later. The day was really fun. Some people were interesting and fun. We hung out with Nikita. She’s the best (Seriously). We heard the author talk about her book and blah blah…At 8:15, Macksut, Sunny, Diana and I had to leave because our metro cards would not work after 8:30. So we told Nikita we were leaving and she told us to wait for her so we can leave together. The subway was 2 minutes away from the gallery. We all took the train home. I got home at 9 sharp. It was a cool day. Now I got new best friends but in a good way (Sunny, Macksut, Nikita). By the way, Macksut said that he drinks “donkey pee”. lol

New: I added all the names and emails of the guests at the book launch. I also chatted with Nikita. She was really nice and easy to talk to. The week was awesome!!

Internship Final Reflection!!

Did you meet your goals?
My goals for the internship program was to learn more about film making. I also wanted to know more about the site and i did meet one goal. I did learn more about my internship site.

What are the most important things you’ve learned?

I have learned to be professional in an office. I have learned to talk, act and behave like a professional. I learned how to answer phone calls in a professional and good way.

In what ways have your grown?

I have grown to love my internship site. I have grown better in excel. I could type better and faster than before. I have grown in planning events and helping out when it starts. I learned a lot about my site. It is a great site and it is really inviting. It has many ways to congratulate authors, dancers, artists and film makers.

What were the highlights of your internship experience?

At my site, I help plan events and make the happen. I send packages to other organizations to let them know about the events happening. I also use the internet a lot to do research about different organizations and I also use the computer to type paperworks for the office.

If you can, describe a memorable moment or experience.

The best times of internship, other than the events, are the chats I had with Nikita about Indian films. We mostly talk about HRITHIK, who is the best actor and dancer all over INDIA. She even said that she used to have a club with Hrithik's wife before their marriage. We listen to songs and we watch videos or Hrithik's acting and then we say if he was good or bad. After talking, I always ask her if she has anything for me to do and then she gets happy and sometimes she calls me, "Honey". It's rarely that she says that word and if she does say it, then she's really in a very good mood. My best times are always with Nikita.

What challenges did you overcome?

I faced many challenges. First of all,I had doubts about how my site was going to be. In the beginning, I didn't like the kinds of jobs that were given. Second of all, my mentor wasn't there for three months straight and I had to do whatever the office manager gave me. I was not happy because i thought that I should only do what my mentor told me. But then I got used to the office manager. Now, of all the people in my internship site, I think she's the best. Not only is she fun but she is a role model. Whenever her boss talks to her (even in a rude way) she does everything. And that shows how much value she gives to her job. She has only been working for about 8 months but she shows the qualities of an experienced worker. She's great!!!

What advice would you give a new intern at this site?

In the beginning (for some people), things would not go easy. But gradually, you'll notice everything changing. It's good to have doubts at the beginning but if you continue working hard and doing what you're told, you'll have the best times.
*WORK HARD!
*TAKE EVERYTHING SERIOUSLY!
*HAVE FUN!!! :)

What will you miss about your internship?

I'm going to miss internship so much. Though sometimes working is very tiring, I'm happy I'm happy I go to internship.I'm going to miss Aroon's great laughter and joy. I'm going to miss going to events and participating in them. And mostly, I'm going to miss NIKITA a lot. She has been helpful, fun and exhilarating. She makes me want to really work. All our chats about India's films and dances and actors (Hrithik) has been great. And I'm going to really miss her. She turned out to be my mentor and even better.:'(

Old and New May 5

This week was very different from the others:

Old: I updated the mailing list and helped Nikita get ready for the show Rafta Rafta...

Old: I put cards into envelopes and got them ready to send.

New: This week, I was sent to the post office for the first time in my life. i had no idea how to get there and what to expect when i get there. I was asking stupid quetions such as, "What is the name of the building?" or "Do i have to take the train?" Everyone was laughing at me, even Nikita. Actually, Nikita was in a very good mood this week. I love her...

New: I delivered packages to people in other organizations. And it was har because some people might thought i was a terrorist.

New: I started a donation file. Many people donate to this organisation and i put the donations on the computer and i kept updating them.
NIKITA WAS SO HAPPY. FIRST SHE WAS LIKE, "THANK YOU FOR DELIVERING PACKAGES" AND THEN SHE WAS LIKE, "YOU GUYS DID GREAT TODAY. I AM PROUD." AND I AM PROUD TOO. YAY ME!!!

I did not go to internship today. After the trip, we got lost and by the time we would get to intership, it would be around 2 something. So instead i went to the school thinking that there might be some work to do. When i got there instead, I took the SAT thing with Mr. Sean. And then later i went home. I was getting sick..
